Crushing on the coastal life? Trade the dry land for the Gulf of America during this two-hour WaveRunner experience to Cayo Costa with YOLO Watersports. Along the way, in the beautiful natural environment, keep an eye out for possible sightings of bottlenose dolphins, West Indian manatees and various types of sharks, rays and turtles. Let the ocean breeze put your mind at ease!
Itinerary for Your Cayo Costa Wave Runner Experience
Leave YOLO beach and head north on the Gulf of Mexico toward North Captiva Island.
Pass Redfish Pass to the east, traversing North Captiva Island’s coastline.
Cruise by Captiva Pass to the east, traversing Cayo Costa Island’s coastline.
If time allows, we will stop on the beach at Cayo Costa for a brief rest before we return to the beach by way of the Gulf of Mexico.
A Note About Physical Ability
& Water Conditions
Water conditions will vary, depending on the time of year that your excursion takes place. The Gulf of America may offer calm waters, or you may experience choppier waters due to wind conditions. Ground swells might also occur from previous storms that have passed through the area. No cause for concern, though! You will always be accompanied by a certified, experienced guide from YOLO Watersports.
Some physical ability may be necessary with regard to riding the WaveRunner. Due to wind and water conditions, you may need to hold on tight! Just be prepared to exert some physical ability, in order to maximize the enjoyment of your WaveRunner experience. YOLO Watersports Guidelines for WaveRunner Excursions
- Reservations are required.
- Everyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liability.
- You must be at least 16 years of age, with a photo ID that includes your date of birth.
- Passengers must be a minimum of 48 inches tall, or 122 cm.
- No riders or passengers are permitted in front of the driver.
- Limit two people per WaveRunner.
- The maximum weight requirement is 450 pounds, 204 kilograms or 32 stone.
- A temporary boating certificate is required to operate a WaveRunner.
Temporary Boating Certificate Requirement
The State of Florida requires that anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who will be operating a WaveRunner to be properly certified. This can be accomplished one of two ways:
Complete an approved boating education course from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), or pass a course equivalency. Identification cards for people who complete the education course or the equivalency exam are good for a lifetime.
Obtain a temporary certificate by taking a short, written examination.
